My sweet & beautiful younger sister, Kelly, turned the fabulous 4-0 this year (yes, I know that dates me too!). We are right at 2 years apart in age and as such, grew up very close. She is my dearest friend, she is kind, giving & talented in many ways but especially so, at being an awesome mom & teacher. For her birthday, I wanted to pass along the gift that I’d been given by my friend, Sue when she photographed me. A gift that I also get every time I do a session with one of my clients. So I gifted her a session, complete with hair & make-up by my girl, Denise… the works! We even included my beautiful nieces, Ava & Kendalyn, too. How could I resist?! I wanted to take what I’ve been building & learning and share that with them… for them to get to enjoy the experience that I get to give my other clients and to have them see for themselves exactly how VERY beautiful I see them!
They all live in Alabama so it took some planning, but the girls had come to stay here with us for a week while my sister & the rest of their family were in the Dominican Republic on a mission trip. So we knew we’d have our opportunity when Kelly came to town to pick them up. With the time constraints I decided not to have any weather worries and do a fully indoors session. Plus, I always do outdoors at least part of the session, so this was a nice challenge for me to see what variety we could bring in without that aspect. It went wonderfully! I couldn’t be more pleased with our results AND the session was so relaxed, comfortable (it was June!) & enjoyable for everyone. I’m so in love with in studio sessions now!
I smile every time I look at these images. I hope Kelly, the girls & the rest of our families will cherish them for many years to come. After the girls got to see a peek at one of their images I got the following message from my sister “… She said she couldn’t stop looking at it and said “I’m pretty!” In such a serious way like she had never seen herself that way. I tell her she’s beautiful all the time, but your picture helped her believe it for herself! Thank You! “. That certainly made me cry and believe all the more in this work that I love so much. Now they will each have images of themselves & each other to always be reminded of exactly how beautiful they truly are. Love you girls!!
